太和分校 English FUNdation Level 3 課堂花絮:Circle Time 如何幫孩子真正「講到英文」?
Saturdays are best spent learning, laughing, and building confidence—especially when children get frequent chances to speak English in complete sentences.
In our Fun To Learn Tai Wo campus, English FUNdation Level 3 Circle Time focuses on practical communication: children listen, respond, take turns, and use structured sentence patterns that help them speak clearly and confidently.
What is “Circle Time” in Level 3?
Circle Time is a guided speaking-and-listening routine where children practise:
- answering questions out loud
- using target vocabulary and sentence patterns
- listening to classmates and waiting their turn
- responding with teacher support (model → practise → repeat)
It looks simple, but it builds the foundations children need for school English: comprehension, sentence building, and confident speaking.
Key Language Targets We Practise (Real, Useful English)
From the classroom highlights, you can see children working on high-value language that transfers directly to daily life and school tasks:
1) Question words (asking and answering)
Common Level 3 focus:
- What (What is it?)
- Where (Where is it?)
- How (How do you…?/How is it?)
- How many (How many pencils?)
These question forms help children join conversations and understand teachers’ instructions more easily.
2) Sentence frames for clear answers
Instead of guessing single words, children practise complete answers such as:
- It is …
- There is …
- There are …
These patterns are essential for describing pictures, telling simple information, and answering classroom questions with confidence.
3) Confidence + classroom habits
Circle Time also builds “learning behaviours” that matter:
- eye contact and active listening
- raising a hand / waiting for a turn
- speaking clearly and trying again
- cooperating with classmates
What parents can do at home (2–3 minutes, no worksheets needed)
Here’s a quick routine that supports Level 3 goals:
- Pick 3 objects (toy, book, spoon).
- Ask:
- “What is it?”
- “Where is it?”
- “How many ___ are there?”
- Prompt full sentences:
- “It is a …”
- “There is …”
- “There are …”
- Praise effort: “Good trying—let’s say it slowly.”
Consistency beats long practice—short, frequent speaking builds fluency.
FAQ (AEO)
What age/level is English FUNdation Level 3 for?
Level placement depends on your child’s current English ability. Level 3 typically suits children who can follow basic classroom English and are ready to expand into full sentences and question-answer speaking.
What skills will my child gain from Circle Time?
Children develop listening, turn-taking, question comprehension, sentence structure, and speaking confidence—skills that support English learning in and out of class.
How often should my child practise speaking at home?
Even 2–3 minutes a day of guided Q&A helps. The goal is confidence + sentence habits, not perfection.
