We’re excited to welcome Mr. E to our Sheung Shui Campus! In his first week, students jumped straight into a FUNdation Level 2 lesson on sports, practicing “I like / I don’t like” with big actions, quick turn‑taking, and lots of laughter. It’s the perfect snapshot of how we build confidence through meaningful speaking routines.
What students practiced
- Target language: “I like … / I don’t like …”
- Vocabulary theme: common sports (e.g., basketball, football, tennis)
- Listening and responding: point, gesture, say your sentence
- Turn‑taking: short answers, fast rotations, clear teacher prompts
Why this routine works
- High‑frequency frames: Students can reuse “I like / I don’t like” across many topics.
- Multisensory learning: Actions + visuals + speaking aid memory and attention.
- Confidence first: Short wins and immediate feedback keep energy high.
- Real classroom language: Kids learn to listen, respond, and share preferences.
Sample lesson flow
- Warm‑up actions: teacher models “I like / I don’t like” with big gestures.
- Sport cards: students identify and respond in full sentences.
- Quick rounds: point, say, and pass—everyone participates.
- Share time: one or two longer sentences (“I like basketball because it’s fun.”)
- Celebrate effort: high‑fives and specific praise.
