What we build in Level 1
Safety and predictability: hello/goodbye, sit/stand, tidy up
Listening with the body (TPR): clap, jump, turn around, point
First phrases for participation: “My turn.” “Your turn.” “I can clap.”
Fine‑motor warm‑ups: point, trace, colour with verbal cues
A typical sequence

Welcome ritual: name + high‑five + hello song
Action burst: 30–60 seconds of movement with clear verbs
Picture cues: point/match; teacher models, child copies
“My turn / Your turn” game to practise waiting and sharing
Calm close: sticker, thank‑you, and goodbye routine

Why it works
Routines reduce cognitive load; children focus on meaning, not guessing.
Gestures bridge the gap from L1 to English without translation.
Frequent success moments create the “I can do this!” feeling.
Home ideas (1–2 minutes)
Action sandwich: “Sit → clap → sit.” Keep it playful.
Polite power: “My turn / Your turn / Thank you” during toy play.
Point and say: in a picture book, “Point to eyes/hands” then “I can clap.”
